RF Microneedling Treatment Before, During, & After:
RF Microneedling Before:
Avoid Retinol, active ingredients, and chemical peels for at least 7 days before your treatment as this will make your skin extremely sensitive. Ensure you avoid tanning, sun exposure, and injectables, such as Botox, 2 weeks prior to your treatment
If you've been sunburned recently, it is highly recommended to wait at least 3 weeks for the tan and burn to fade before getting this RF microneedling.
RF Microneedling During:
Prior to your treatment, the licensed technician will remove any makeup, cleanse the skin, and finally apply topical numbing cream on your skin to ensure you do not feel any pain and are comfortable during the treatment. The RF microneedling machine is then calibrated using the correct settings to match the parameters of your customized facial treatment.
The micro-needles in the treatment head create micro-injuries that will force the body to naturally heal and produce collagen. After the microneedles have penetrated the skin, a radio frequency energy is released under the skin, causing thermal damage. This thermal damage is known as thermolysis. Thermolysis further helps stimulate new collagen to be produced without damaging essential layers of the skin. After the initial treatment, the skin beings to heal with more volume and restored collagen. The restoration and healing process works to smooth out acne scars and wrinkles with the help of newly formed collagen and elastin in the deeper layers of the skin.
RF Microneedling After:
Immediately after your treatment, you will feel that your skin is very tight, red, and slightly swollen. This is usually very mild and tolerable and gradually goes away after the first day or two. There is little discomfort after the procedure, and most patients can return to regular activity on the day after. Make sure to avoid acids, retinol, scrubs, and exfoliants until you're fully healed, which is about 5-10 days after the treatment. Ensure you avoid skincare products and sun exposure as well as heavy exercise and intense heat as your skin is extremely sensitive as it heals.
Does RF Microneedling Hurt?
RF Microneedling is minimally invasive and has very little downtime. The actual treatment does not hurt as a topical numbing cream is applied prior to ensure you are comfortable during the entire duration of the procedure.
RF Microneedling for Acne Scars
Post-acne scarring is one of the most common skincare problems people suffer from and it is caused simply by the destruction of collagen after inflammatory acne. Collagen is extremely vital in supporting the structure of the skin so once collagen has been destroyed the skin begins to fall at the dermis level causing dermal depressions known as scars. Many treatment options such as chemical peeling, dermabrasion, fillers, and lasers have been performed to help improve acne scars but produce minimal improvement at the cost of long recovery times and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
RF Microneedling has been shown to be clinically efficient in managing acne scars without causing direct damage to the epidermis with extremely better results as compared to other treatment options. The RF microneedling device works great on acne scars by creating radiofrequency thermal zones without epidermal injury. After the damage to the dermis, long-term skin dermal remodeling and the genesis of new collagen resulting in the skin thickening and acne scars being reduced in size.
RF Microneedling Side Effects
Side effects following RF microneedling are mild, resulting in minimal downtime after each treatment. For most patients, there may be mild bleeding from the micro-needles and slight bruising. As a very common side effect, the skin will be mildly red for approximately 24 hours. Most patients can resume their normal routine within a day and can apply makeup after 24 hours.
RF Microneedling Results
Optimal results typically can be seen after three to six months from the first RF microneedling treatment. Most people require 3-5 sessions of rf microneedling for over six months to attain visible results. The number of sessions and time interval between each session depends on your skin's response to the treatment. We suggest treatment sessions after a gap of 4-6 weeks as this lets your skin heal in between treatments for ideal results.
After the initial set of treatments, the results will last quite some time, however, it is recommended to have a touch-up session once a year to maintain your desired results.
